In Florida, felony crimes are divided into five categories.

Third degree felonyA third degree felony carries a maximum punishment of five years of imprisonment in state prison and a fine of up to $5,000. In Florida, the Following Crimes fall under the category of a third-degree felony:

Second degree felonyThe second degree felonies are more serious and carry a heavier sentence compared to a third degree felony. Capital and life felonies are the most serious crimes in Florida. Capital felonies are punishable by the death penalty. Life felonies are punishable by life imprisonment and a fine of up to $15,000. Examples of capital or life felonies are:
